ASSIGNMENT HANDOUT
Are you working on:
- the original concept you pitched
- a modified version
- starting from scratch
SUMMARY
Describe where you are at in the project. If you are still creating the original concept, write about where you are at, and the relevant experiences you had getting there. If your concept has been modified, discuss how. And if you are starting from scratch, summarize your new idea and how you will produce it and its final form. (200-300 words)
For my final project, I have decided to start from scratch as my original concept would be difficult to salvage in these conditions. My new idea is to simply reflect on the covid-19 situation by capturing, through photo, people in quarantine. More specifically, I will be doing a photo series in which I take photos of friends of mine from outside their houses. I will be making each photo different but still following the housebound theme by picking different externally visible areas of their home to take pictures in (ex: balcony, porch, roof, window)
PRODUCED MATERIALS for PRESENTATION
What have you made so far? Attach or embed link to the project to date on your WP BLOG in WIP. This may include a rough assembly / cut of your short video, a series of unfinished photographs, the start of a website, and so on. The objective here is to demonstrate how much of the project is complete, what it’s going to look +/ sound like, and what problems may be surfacing at this stage, so that you, and others, can look at it objectively and critically, get feedback, and move to the next phase with these new reflections.
What do you ideally aim to produce as a final project?
An honest but positive reflection of people’s individual experiences of the pandemic. I would like everyone I take photos of to truly present and express themselves however they feel to. I want this project to celebrate interactivity because not only does it demand mutual effort and creativity but it also gives me an opportunity to amicably interact with friends from a safe distance, which I haven’t done in a while.
What do you realistically think you will finish and submit as your final project?
I think my new concept is realistic and doable enough as it is and hopefully I will be submit exactly such.
Technically, our last class would be on May 14, 2020. Do you think you can meet this deadline, or would you need more time to finish your project?
I will be aiming for the 14th but may also need a little more time.
Questions for the class:
Is my new concept too simple?
